Sarah is originally from the UK. She worked in the NHS for over 20 years as a Registered Nurse specialising in cancer & palliative care. She attended her first yoga class in 2006 & immediately fell in love with the practice. As a yoga student she has explored many styles of Hatha yoga, from yin restorative to power vinyasa.
Her passion for yoga continued to grow. She loves how there is a yoga practice for every ‘body’, every ‘energy’ & every ‘mood’. Sarah took the big step & embarked on a 2 year teacher training course. It complimented her nursing knowledge of the human body, health & illness. In 2013 she qualified as a yoga teacher RYT®200 at The Yoga Academy with Simon Low & Eija Tervonen.
2014 was a huge period of change. Emigrating with her South African partner to the beautiful town of Robertson, in the heart of the Winelands, Western Cape. Sarah decided to leave nursing & focus on yoga. Leaving the grey rainy clouds of London for the sunny skies of the Western Cape, Sarah was inspired to set up ‘Surya Yoga’, Surya is Sanskrit for ‘sun’.
Always craving for new knowledge, Sarah continues to study the various aspects of yoga.
Sarah believes that every ‘body’ can reap the benefits of a regular yoga practice, physically, mentally & emotionally. It’s hugely rewarding to connect with people, see them overcome their obstacles & transform with a regular yoga practice.
